The Dogs of Le Chien Part 3 – Dogs I Know and Love
This post of Part 3 of the Dogs of Le Chien. the dogs I know and love.
As I’ve said before Le Chien is the Dog Fashion Show that happens every year to kick off the Palm Springs Life Magazine Fashion Week El Paseo. Its a benefit for the Humane Society of the Desert and is a fun event.
As the designer this year, I have to recruit 25 dog models, design and make their outfits.
You’ve already met some of the dogs and in this post you will meet the remaining dogs who are friends, customers and in some cases, dogs I’ve worked with on other events.
Zoe – Maltese/Coton Mix – rescued by Vicki Berg, this wonderful dog is as friendly and social as she is cute. I had the joy of working with her on the Loving All Animals Fur Follies in 2014 and she showed us how she loves wearing clothes and working the audience.
Madison – Bichon/Poodle Mix – Another Fur Follies Dog, Madison and her Mom, Ginnie Foat frequent the runway at all kinds of benefit events so she’s a seasoned veteran of the stage. Another doll to work with she’s social and friendly and will win over the crowd.
Stella – Jack/Chi – Stella is a good customer of ours and every year comes in to get a new outfit to attend Le Chien. So when her Mom, Cindy Orr, heard I was looking for Models, she signed Stella up right away. Stella wears clothes everyday and her trademark Mohawk makes her recognizable everywhere she goes. You’ll see her mohawk matching her outfit on the runway at Le Chien.
Annie Banana – Chihuahua – Another great customer, Annie comes with her Mom, Shirley Ireton, to the College of the Desert Street Fair and stops by to visit her favorite merchants on the way to us. She loves everyone and loves to give you kisses. When we put clothes on her she stands up tall and basks in the attention. Annie looks great in bright colors that play against her black fur so that’s what she’ll be wearing in Le Chien. This is Annie’s first time modeling but I know she’ll win hearts all the way down the runway.
Kiwi – the Havanese – is a good friend of Madison’s so when Madison told Kiwi that she was going to be a big time Fashion Model, Kiwi wanted to do the same. Fortunately, Kiwi’s Mom, Barb Lampert, agreed to have her participate. This is Kiwi’s first time on the runway but we know she will do great.
Xeno – the Standard Poodle – What a handsome guy! His Mom, Valerie Masi is the owner of Best Paw Forward dog training. She trained Angelo and Bella before Birmingham Fashion Week. When I put out the Call For Models she kindly offered any of her dogs so I grabbed at the chance to work with Xeno. This is his first runway experience but he wears clothes, hats – anything all the time.
Luca – Aussie/Jack Mix – another of Valerie’s dogs, I fell in love with his face. This handsome dude is a 40 pounder with a Mohawk! He will rock the runway!
Jake the Chiweenie – Jake’s Mom, Shari Pate is the owner of the other Dog Shop at the College of the Desert Street Fair and we’ve developed a wonderful collaborative relationship. When she rescued Jake, I fell in love – OK, I know I say that often but I did and I do. Shari has been working hard with Jake to learn manners and skills and he is blossoming in the love she and her husband, Lane have to give him. This is his first modeling experience for this handsome little guy but I know he’s going to steal hearts all along the runway.
Toni the Chihuahua – is the smallest of the models at 4 pounds and belongs to me. She’s my newest rescue and wants so badly to be a model. So this is her big chance! We don’t know yet whether she’ll be able to get those little legs moving all the way down the runway or if she’ll be carried but one way or another, she’ll be there.
Bella the Chihuahua – another one of mine, Bella was in the Fur Follies, Birmingham Fashion Week and has been in local magazines. She models for my website and knows that she’s an important part of my business. I often say that Bella should run for Miss Congeniality since she loves everyone. You’ll see her smiling and saying hi to everyone as she walks the runway.
Angelo – the Chihuahua is the oldest dog of Le Chien at 12 years old and is mine too. He is our fit model for boy’s clothes, models for my website and has done fashion shows from Palm Springs to Birmingham. He loves to get dressed up and loves classic clothes. He and Bella will walk with me at the end of the show.
So, now you’ve met all the Dogs of Le Chien from Toni to Vendetta the Great Dane. From Breeds to Blends. From Show Dogs to Rescues. From experienced old hands to first timers. I hope you agree with me that this is an amazing line-up of dog models that will create an exciting show for a good cause.
If you are in the area on April 3d, be sure to get tickets at
