The Dogs of Le Chien Part 2 – the Roxie Davenport Connection
In this post I will introduce you to The Dogs of Le Chien Part 2 – The Roxie Davenport Connection.
Le Chien is the dog fashion show that kicks off Palm Springs Life’s Fashion Week El Paseo and is a benefit for the Humane Society of the Desert. As I mentioned in the last post, I am the designer and am charged with recruiting and designing outfits for 20-25 dogs. Here’s the dogs of Le Chien that are part of the Roxie Davenport Connection.
I met Roxie and her Dad, Paul Jankowski in 2014 doing the Loving All Animals Fur Follies. Paul had rescued Roxie from the Humane Society of the Desert and she had won the Palm Springs Life Magazine Pet of the Year Contest. Roxie is an elegant totally white greyhound with a dramatic body so I love to design for her. Her Dad is equally as handsome and elegant and funny so we became fast friends.
When I started Part 2 of my recruitment efforts, I sent my friends a Call For Models and Paul responded with amazing help. Here’s are the Dogs of the Roxie Davenport Connection:
Scruffy – Terrier Mix and Snickers – Lhasa Apso – owned by Ernie Rubin and Ann Carter respectively who are great friends, Scruffy and Snickers are so inseparable that the Mom’s threw a huge wedding to marry the two of them and raise money for the Humane Society of the Desert. So, given them “marital status” I have to design matching outfits for them and they will be walked together.
Bogey – Labradoodle – Bogey is a wonderful Grey Labradoodle and is the fur-baby of the Cartwrights. In this group of friends he is surrounded by small dogs so he usually finds someplace to go and get away from them. Usually on someone’s bed. What a look – his outfit will have to be a classic look.
Mickey – a Papillon/ Maltese Mix and Jake – the Morkie – These cute little guys are brothers and live with their Mom and Dad the Dietrichs. Mickey has the most amazing ears, and Jake just adorable. Since they live together, I’ll have to do outfits that blend together in the same color schemes. Its a must. And maybe feathers in Mickey’s ears….
Clyde – Poodle Mix – Clyde spends a lot of tie with Roxie and is teaching her to play with toys and be a dog. He’s a wonderful little guy who is the fur-baby of Lisa Sullivan. What a cutie….OK, I’m sure you get the trend, I fall in love with all the dogs I work with…I confess! Well, Clyde Dog as he’s called, will have an outfit that goes with Roxie’s since they are such good friends.
Murphy – the Havanese – is a quiet, sweet little girl who wins your heart immediately. Her Dad, Darrin Harlowe, brought her to meet me so I could measure her and I was amazed by her gentle demeanor. Its going to have to be a soft pink for her.
Boo Boo Bear – the Pomeranian – What a great little guy! He loves to wear clothes of all kinds, was the Flower Dog at Snickers and Scruffy’s wedding, and loves to cuddle with everyone he meets. When he travels with his Mom, Karen Coe, he lets kids think he’s a live teddy bear. So adorable.
As you can see, Roxie is a very social girl and knows lots of dogs. She and her Dad were invaluable in responding to my Call For Models and introducing me to a wonderful, fun group of dogs and parents.
Welcome to the Roxie Davenport Connection Dogs of Le Chien. Along with the AKC Show Dog you met in Part 1 and the dogs you will meet in the next post, these dogs will all Rock the Runway of Le Chien on April 3rd.
